It was ironic to have met Toni at the last mid-term Trump rally… You may remember, she had faced the nasty weather to sit with us in that long line eating sandwiches, waiting on President Trump.
Toni is a Navy veteran. When we got to chatting we found that we had a lot in common, as far as the service went. But one thing she spoke of caught me totally off guard. She was scheduled to have surgery the following morning, for one of her multiple problems, caused by her exposure to Agent Orange. But she stormed the storm so that she could see her president, just like we did, out of RESPECT! But being a Marine, we had a shelter, seats and ice chest full of goodies!Mark always gives me a hard time about my packing, but I generally am prepared for most situations … he likes to whine about having to pack the Jeep, but is happy for the sandwich… but that is another story.
Toni is among the 90,000 veterans that are fighting the V.A. for compensation/recognition of their sacrifice.
“Though most didn’t step foot in Vietnam, some 90,000 Navy vets who served offshore may have been exposed to the chemical brew and seek benefits. The battle is playing out in the courts and in Congress. It boils down to a comma.”
It’s not like Congress does not know …
This bill includes as part of the Republic of Vietnam its territorial seas for purposes of the presumption of service connection for diseases associated with exposure by veterans to certain herbicide agents while in Vietnam.
Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2017
“Two Republican senators killed a bill on Monday that would provide benefits to American veterans who served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and now suffer the effects of Agent Orange.
The reason? Extending benefits to those veterans would constitute deficit spending”
Yet our nation funds the health and welfare of non-U.S. citizens, in lieu of taking care of its wounded veterans?
Dear President Trump,
This veteran supports your wall and your continued support of veterans. Please look into this debauchery, Agent Orange, that has killed over 12 times the victims of Vietnam.
Put this issue to rest for myself and these honorable families.
Respectfully, your humble Marine!
